I've Been in Your Shoes
And I refused to repeat the cycle.
How I Got Here
Hi, I'm Emilia — most people call me Em. I grew up in a household where money was always tight and arguments about finances were a regular occurrence. My dad immigrated from Mexico with nothing, and my parents had less than $5,000 to their name when they had me. No matter how hard they worked, they couldn't get ahead — student loans from degrees they never used, growing credit card debt, and eventually, bankruptcy. Financial literacy wasn't something either of them had ever been taught — and that was never their fault.
Terrified of struggling like they did, I did what seemed logical — I saved. Everything. Birthday gifts, chore money, paychecks from my first job at 14. I was convinced that if I just saved enough, I'd reach financial freedom. Turns out, I was playing a game I didn't fully understand yet.
At 17, a family friend sat me down and helped me open my first investment account. I put a few thousand dollars of my hard-earned savings into it and watched it grow more in 12 months than my disciplined money hoarding ever had. For the first time, I understood that saving money and growing money are two completely different things — and the gap between them was bigger than I ever imagined.
I spent the next decade learning everything I could — books, research, courses, podcasts, and some healthy trial and error. Slowly, the scarcity and anxiety I grew up with gave way to something I'd never felt around money before — abundance, clarity, and a genuine excitement about what I was building and exactly how to build it. That journey is what led me to start Prosper with Em.
If you've ever felt behind with money, overwhelmed by it, or just quietly convinced that you should be doing more — that's not a you problem, it's a system problem. Everything I wish I had been taught before my first job, my first credit card, my first big financial decision — I'm here to teach you. I've been in your shoes, I've fought my way to the other side, and I know exactly what's waiting there for you. That's where we're headed, together.
What I Bring to The Table
I don't have a finance degree. What I have is eight years of obsessive, hands-on self-education — and a track record of actually applying it.
By 26, I've built a diversified investment portfolio, maxed retirement accounts, and purchased international real estate. Not because I had a head start — but because I learned the fundamentals early and refused to stop applying them.
The basics aren't complicated. The hard part is knowing where to start, having someone translate the noise into a plan that actually fits your life, and then following through. That's exactly what I'm here for.

How I Work
I've spent a lot of time thinking about why smart, capable women still struggle with money — and it almost never comes down to math. It comes down to habits, history, and how money made you feel growing up.
That's why I don't just hand you a spreadsheet and send you on your way. Before we build anything, we talk about what's actually going on — not just the numbers, but the patterns behind them. The avoidance. The anxiety. The "I know I should but I just don't" moments.
My coaching is warm, direct, and judgment-free. I'll ask you real questions, give you honest answers, and never make you feel behind or broken for where you're starting. I'll meet you exactly where you are — and then help you build something you're actually proud of.
